The increase in paper import tariffs was canceled in the year 2016.
Following a request from the Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade to the First Vice President to increase the rate of paper import tariffs, the Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance announced that this issue was canceled.
According to the Mehr correspondent, Seyed Reza Salehi Amiri, Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance announced the elimination of the issue of increasing the tariff rate on paper and newspaper imports in yesterday’s cabinet meeting in a message in cyberspace and said: “Considering my reasoned and documented opposition in the government and the approval and emphasis of the esteemed president, the increase of the paper tariff of the year 2016 will be canceled.” It should be noted that the Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade, Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh, had previously written to the First Vice President and presented arguments calling for an increase in the import tariff on paper, which was faced with a reaction from paper consumer organizations and unions.
